Internet of Things Becomes Big Priority

According to a new report conducted by Forrester Research, a majority of decision makers surveyed understand the importance of the Internet of Things (IoT) and they are in the process of deploying IoT as part of their business strategy.

The survey of nearly 600 IT and business executives at global companies in the retail, consumer products, manufacturing, transportation, government, oil/gas, healthcare and hospitality industries in November 2014 shows that more than 80% think IoT solutions will be the most strategic technology initiative for their organization in ten years.

These businesses are looking to IoT technologies as a way to address a variety of strategic, operational and business challenges.
About two thirds of the companies surveyed have deployed or they are in the process of implementing IoT products, and more than 70% of businesses in the Asia Pacific region have an IoT technology in place or are in the process of implementing a product. In comparison, 60% of North American, 52% of European and 71% of Latin American companies are in these same stages of IoT deployment.
Over the last two years, there has been a growing need for organizations to obtain a full picture of their business operations. With these survey results, it is clear that enterprises in key industries globally are adopting Internet of Things solutions to arm themselves with the real-time data and intelligence to become smarter and more connected.
